The end of a calendar year tends to be reflective: what did the past year bring to us, good or bad? What did we achieve? Where did we feel we could have done more? If we had major goals for ourselves at the start of the year, only to find we didn’t accomplish them, it can be a time of regret or disappointment.
This week, I invite you to write about resolutions, old and new. Select one or more of the following questions to respond to. Your writing can be from the perspective of a character in a fictional story you are working on, or from your own perspective.
In what aspects of your life did you seek to make changes or shifts?
Did you have a secret (or not-so-secret) resolution for someone else in your life? What was it?
What types of resolutions do you find to be the easiest or hardest to achieve?
What problems were solved and resolved over the past year?
Recommendation: set a timer for 25 minutes and see what comes up. You can write by hand or type it out—whatever writing method works for you.
Have fun writing!
